| an inquiry into the nature of the good |

| In ancient times, Jupiter was known as the greater benefic in Astrology. It represented the best of a person or situation. At birth or during its 12 year cycle, whenever Jupiter contacted a favourable point shown in an erected birth chart, the goodness of that point or aspect was greatly enhanced. Likewise the evil or negative aspects could be activated or mitigated depending on the circumstances and timing of the information sought. Jupiter was also associated with organized religion, and came to represent those who had attained the highest glory in the male sacred hierarchy. For Hestia's Hearth and her followers, Jupiter's expansiveness, represents a contrast to the elegant beauty and delicacy of Venus, which had been known as the lesser benefic. (probably lesser because of its feminine associations) We honour Jupiter here as a masculine energy. Most of the shared information on the other pages of this web site is dedicated to the research and study of feminine thought, feminist spirituality, women and women's issues. For balance, we want to put Jupiter, and sometimes Venus, together in AGATHISM the practice of good. In this way we can seek achievement, at the highest level of good, in all we do. |

| What Plato had to say about The Good. "The good is twice described in the Philebus as perfect, self- sufficient and seeked by all conscious beings. And the good does not have a contrary: it is not the one end of a scale whose evil would be the other end; it is a measure on any scale."
